A new study by Google and Stanford University has revealed that an AI model can accurately replicate a person’s personality based on just two hours of conversation. This discovery can not only revolutionize research fields but can also provide a highly controlled platform for the study of public policies, social reactions and human behavior. However, the possibility of its misuse also remains a matter of concern.

Personality imitation with the help of AI: Revolution or threat?

A recent study conducted by Google and Stanford University has found that an AI model can accurately replicate a person’s personality based on two hours of conversation. According to the Live Science report, this study was published on January 4, 2025.

How was this research done?

The researchers conducted two hours of interviews with 1,052 participants and created AI replicas called “simulated agents” using their personality data. To test these AI replicas, the participants were given personality tests, social surveys and logic games twice. These tests were repeated at two-week intervals. Amazingly, when these AI replicas gave the same tests, their answers matched the participants by 85%.

AI and human behaviour: possibilities and uses

The researchers believe that this technology can help in many areas by simulating human behaviour. For example:

  • Evaluation of public policies: The effectiveness of new policies can be assessed.
  • Response to product launches: Possible reactions to product launches can be understood in advance.
  • Simulation of social events: Studying large-scale social events, which can be expensive and complex with real human participants, can be done through AI.

The researchers write in their paper that “simulating human behaviour through AI can provide a new platform to test various interventions and theories.”

Is this technology risky?

While this technology offers unprecedented possibilities in research, the possibility of its misuse cannot be ruled out.
Risks of misuse: AI and “deepfake” technologies have already been used to commit fraud, steal identities, and spread misinformation.
Ethical questions: If this technology gets into the wrong hands, it can cause massive harm.

Latest update:
Recently, OpenAI and other companies have been working on making AI models for such simulations more secure.

Expert opinion:
Technological experts believe that this technology should only be used for controlled and ethically responsible research.

Our opinion
Simulating human personality through AI is a big step in the field of technology. However, it is imperative to use it responsibly. This technology can make our lives easier, but if misused, the consequences can be dire.
