Job role: Procurement Engineer
Experience: 6-10 years
Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
Responsibilities:
- Procurement of mechanical utility equipment, including Chiller, AHU, pumps, compressors, boilers, Water system, HVAC systems, and related mechanical components.
- Opex analysis for high energy consumption equipment.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders (engineering, maintenance, etc.) to understand equipment requirements.
- Ensure the sourcing and purchasing of high-quality, reliable, and cost-effective mechanical utility equipment.
- Identify, evaluate, and select reliable suppliers and vendors for mechanical utility equipment.
- Maintain positive relationships with suppliers and conduct regular reviews of performance.
- Negotiate prices, delivery schedules, and contract terms with vendors.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to develop equipment specifications and requirements.
- Ensure all purchased equipment meets technical specifications and industry standards.
- Conduct quality checks and assessments to ensure products meet operational needs.
- Oversee the entire order process, including purchase order creation, tracking deliveries, and ensuring timely receipt of goods.
- Manage inventory levels to ensure critical equipment and spare parts are available when needed.
- Coordinate logistics for the transportation and delivery of equipment.
- Ensure procurement activities adhere to company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities, including contracts, invoices, and correspondence.
- Monitor compliance with contractual terms and resolve any issues that may arise.
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes and enhance efficiency.
- Keep up to date with new suppliers, materials, and technologies in the mechanical utilities sector.
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, utility operations, and related equipment.
- Experience with SAP preferable.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with procurement regulations and compliance standards.
Preferred Skills:
- Postgraduate degree in a related field (MBA, master’s in engineering, etc.).
- Certification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management (CIPS, etc.).
- Familiarity with cost analysis and contract management.
