Position Overview:
StevenDouglas has been retained to discover an experienced and strategic Director or Vice President of Procurement to lead our purchasing efforts across the organization. The Purchasing Director will play a crucial role in managing the complete procurement process, which involves identifying and managing reliable suppliers, negotiating advantageous contracts, and fostering strong vendor relationships. This position is vital in ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services, contributing to our organization’s overall efficiency and success. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional negotiation skills and a keen understanding of healthcare market trends to secure the best possible prices for our company.
Scope and Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of and familiarity with GPOs (Group Purchasing Organizations) is essential.
- Experience with supplier standards, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- More specifically, the Procurement Director will be responsible for:
- Vendor contracts & negotiation
- Vendor identification, management, and rationalization
- GPO liaison (group purchasing organization)
- Physical inventory counts
- Perpetual vs. periodic inventory management
- Creating and implementing enterprise-wide procedures and standards
- Experience with ASC expansion and build-out is preferred.
- Maintain knowledge of emerging market technologies and trends.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in senior Procurement role, specifically within a multi-unit healthcare environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related Operations discipline.
- Knowledge and familiarity with GPOs (Group Purchasing Organization) is required.
- Action-oriented and innovative in leading, with a “roll-up-your-sleeves-mentality.”
- Capable of creating and implementing strategy execution to achieve specific business results.
- Capable of directing the resolution of highly complex or unusual business problems, while applying advanced analytical thought and judgment.
- Demonstrate a high level of ethical behavior at all times.
- Able to be an effective partner to senior executives and cultivate their trust and confidence.
