GB Tech is a Managed Service provider based out of Houston, Texas that offers comprehensive IT support for multiple clients utilizing a shared service model. GB Tech is seeking an experienced field support specialist in the Houston, Texas area to provide hands on desk side support for our clients and assist extend our help desk support to various client locations.
This support position may involve travel in and around the Houston area with a possibility of supporting multiple client sites daily. When in the field, the Support Technician will be tasked with various hardware tasks, troubleshooting, and configuration. In instances, this technician will act as the hands and eyes for the remote Help Desk. When not in the field, the Support Technician is expected to assist with reactive and proactive incident response. Under the direction of the Service Desk Lead, the IT Help Desk Technician will have the following responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Respond to dispatch requests assigned by IT Dispatcher via ConnectWise PSA
- Interaction with executive and general level users
- Maintain a dispatch calendar, be on time, prioritize and schedule work duties
- Work closely with both technical and non-technical staff and communicate effectively with both
- Perform research on technical computer topics as requested by our partners and management team
- Ability to prioritize and schedule work duties
Essential Functions:
- Perform basic PC troubleshooting
- Perform basic virus removal and remediation
- Provide remote setup and configuration of desktop computers including adding to network domains, establishing drive mappings and setting up standard printers/scanners
- Install and configure network devices such as switches, smart switches, routers, modems, wireless access points, as necessary. Including working with ISPs to configure and install internet service
- Experience with SonicWall, Cisco and Datto devices
- Install and configure standard software such as Microsoft Office, Adobe, remote support software, etc
- Familiarity with Office 365 Admin Portal, Azure AD, Microsoft Entra and SharePoint.
- Perform basic network maintenance functions such as user creation and assignment of rights and permissions
- Familiar with standard desktop operating systems such as Windows 10 and Windows 11
- Familiar with server operating systems including Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2025
- Knowledge of Active Directory management and configuration
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- A+ Certification in PC configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting preferable
- Must be outgoing, cordial, organized, accountable, and hard working
- The successful candidate will have strong customer satisfaction skills and communication skills
- Previous MSP experience is a plus
- Ability to multi-task, set priorities, and work both independently and in group settings is necessary
