Executive Assistant

Autistic Self Advocacy Network–a national disability rights advocacy nonprofit run by autistic people– is currently seeking a part-time executive assistant to support our Executive Director, Deputy Director, and management team. The job is a 20 hour per week position paying $35,000 annually, with comprehensive health insurance and other benefits including a retirement plan, dental insurance, commuter benefits for office-based workers, four day work week, and up to 5 weeks of paid time off per year. Fully remote applicants will be considered, but preference may be given to applicants who could be available in-office one day per week.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver with exceptional communication skills and meticulous attention to detail. This person should have experience performing administrative duties, and providing support to organizational leaders. They should be comfortable tracking and prioritizing large volumes of incoming information, and able to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.

Job responsibilities:

Support the Executive Director, Deputy Director, and other team members as directed, to ensure that organizational goals and objectives are accomplished and that operations run efficiently.

Manage communication with both internal and external colleagues, triaging as necessary when the volume of communication is high and time is limited.

Track ongoing tasks and projects, ensuring that balls do not get dropped, organizational goals are achieved, and best practices are upheld.

Manage meeting scheduling for Executive Director and Deputy Director, including with external organizations, as well as scheduling internal staff meetings. Coordinate complex scheduling and calendar management

Read and catalogue emails to Executive Director and Deputy Director. Develop prioritized lists of which messages need urgent responses, and ensure all emails that need responses get them eventually.

Work with executive director and deputy director to set up running task lists that are divided by area and prioritized by urgency and importance. Keep track of back-burnered items and re-surface them as needed.

Manage travel logistics and activities, including accommodations, transportation, and meals for staff as needed.

Maintain professionalism and strict confidentiality with all materials.

In coordination with other staff, monitor and respond to email inquiries directed to the organization’s general email inbox.

If employee is based in Washington D.C., provide logistical support as necessary for in-person programming.

Skills and Experience Preferred:

● Three or more years of experience in an administrative role working with senior organizational leadership.

● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

● Strong time-management skills and an ability to organize and coordinate multiple concurrent projects.

● Proficiency with office productivity tools and an aptitude for learning new software and systems.

● Flexible team player, willing to adapt to changes and unafraid of challenges.

● Ability to maintain confidentiality of information related to the company and its employees.

Preferred skills and qualifications:

● Experience working within non-profit organizations.

● Familiarity with project management software, e.g. Monday.com or Trello

● Experience with disability rights issues, and/or work experience at a

disability-related organization.
